Cascin Gilli

Since 1983, Cascina Gilli has been promoting a selection of indigenous Monferrato grape varieties, starting with Freisa, a multifaceted and contemporary variety. The brand is in Castelnuovo Don Bosco, in the Monferrato Astigiano, one of the less kno2n areas of Piedmont that has always let the land tell its proud and independent history.

There, are cultivated 11 hectares of property planted with Freisa, Malvasia di Schierano, Bonarda, Barbera and Nebbiolo among the clay hills in the Marne di Sant’Agata.

After 40 years, Paolo Vergnano, son of founder Gianni, is now at the helm joined by two new partners, Davide Gasperini and Federico Mussetto. This team brings new skills to the table, as well as the desire to promote a territory and its native vines, preserving the 18th-century farmhouse and transforming it in an opportunity for people to meet socially and to propel the local culture.

The signature wines include Freisa d’Asti DOC: refined, elegant, fragrant. And Malvasia di Castelnuovo Don Bosco DOC, aromatic and timeless.

In the wake of an authentic production philosophy, these wines become, today, the legacy of an important work that has been carried out to safeguard and enhance the indigenous viticultural heritage.
