Umberto Cesari

In the early 1960s, Umberto Cesari bought 20 hectares of vineyards with the goal of making Sangiovese a world-renowned wine. He was among the first in Emilia Romagna to focus on local grape varieties like Albana di Romagna, Trebbiano, and Pignoletto, later incorporating international varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Today, the company manages 12 estates between Castel San Pietro Terme and Montecatone di Imola, following sustainable viticulture practices, with 30% of vineyards converted to organic. Umberto Cesari combines human expertise with innovative techniques, overseeing every stage of production in its own vineyards and cellars, ensuring high-quality wines through a short, carefully managed supply chain.

A relentless pursuit of uncompromising quality, attention to detail, passion for research, and innovation define Umberto Cesari’s work and philosophy.
